Rockville, IN – An Indianapolis man has been charged following a violent home invasion and a separate auto theft incident in Parke County last week.

The events, which unfolded on the evening of April 24, started with a break-in at a residence on County Road 500 North, near Bloomingdale, where a 67-year-old was injured and robbed. Minutes later, a 2014 Nissan Juke was reported stolen from Montezuma.

The Parke County Sheriff’s Office identified 19-year-old Jayden T. Smith of Indianapolis as the suspect. On Monday, the Parke County Circuit Court issued an arrest warrant for Smith, charging him with Burglary with Serious Bodily Injury (Level 1 Felony), Armed Robbery (Level 3 Felony), and Auto Theft (Level 6 Felony).

The injured homeowner has been released from the hospital and is on the mend. Authorities are now seeking information on Smith’s whereabouts and encourage anyone with knowledge to contact the sheriff’s office or local police. The investigation continues, with the sheriff’s office committed to keeping the victims informed of any developments.
