Crown Point, IN – A vehicle collision accompanied by gunfire prompted a response from Crown Point Police on Tuesday at 6:48 p.m. on Tennessee Street in Edgewater. A witness reported seeing a black SUV careen into the wooded area near Vermont Circle and East 111th Place, followed by two men exiting the vehicle and engaging in a physical altercation.

Authorities recovered the SUV and identified 18-year-old Nicholas Tucker as the driver, who is now facing misdemeanor charges for leaving the scene. The second individual, a young white male in a gray hoodie, fled and is currently at large. Investigations suggest a dispute over a tennis shoe sale led to the struggle and subsequent vehicle crash and shooting. The Lake County Sheriff’s Department is assisting in the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Crown Point Police.
