Indianapolis, IN – Family Displaced and Pet Lost in East Side House Fire

Indianapolis, IN – A devastating fire erupted in the rear of a rental home located at 6101 E 40th St, leading to the displacement of a mother and her four children.

The Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) reported that the incident occurred at approximately 2:15 PM. Tragically, the family’s dog, named Nova, perished in the fire. One child was transported to Methodist Hospital for examination due to a minor injury.

According to IFD, firefighters arrived on scene to encounter heavy smoke and flames emanating from the home. With the assistance of the City of Lawrence Fire Department, the IFD team launched an aggressive firefighting effort, successfully extinguishing the blaze within 15 minutes. Additionally, one firefighter was transported to Methodist Hospital for a minor injury evaluation. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, leaving the community to rally around the affected family during this difficult time.
