BOURBONNAIS — A scorching summer day turned even more unbearable for 500 Bourbonnais residents as they found themselves without power early Thursday morning. The outage struck on what has been labeled one of the hottest days of the year, with the temperature index soaring upwards of 114 degrees later today.

The first reports of the outage came in around 10:24 am, catching many off guard as they struggled to cope with the oppressive heat. Local utility company ComEd has yet to pinpoint the exact cause of the outage, leaving residents in the dark.

With air conditioners silenced and fans motionless, the affected individuals are seeking refuge from the blistering temperatures in any way they can. Emergency cooling centers are set up across the area offering a haven from the heat.

ComEd is working diligently to address the issue, has yet to provide a timeline for when electricity might return to the affected homes.
