BRADLEY, Ill. – Two people have been arrested on felony charges for sex-related crimes as a result of an investigation that began on March 28th, when officers responded to a report of a sexual incident that occurred in the 500 block of East Broadway.

According to Bradley Police, 37-year-old Richard Smith is alleged to have sexually assaulted a juvenile victim multiple times while the victim was at his home babysitting. Meanwhile, 23-year-old Kayla Trout allegedly took nude photos of the victim and emailed them to Smith.

Smith was arrested on preliminary charges of grooming, aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and possession of child pornography, among other charges. Trout was taken into custody Tuesday night on charges of child endangerment, child pornography, and distribution of harmful materials to minors.

Both Smith and Trout are now awaiting bond or a court appearance at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details surrounding the allegations are expected to be released later this week.
