Cannelton, IN – Barricaded Suspect Attempts to Start Fire, Leads to Deputy Injury, Arrest

Cannelton, IN – A confrontation with a barricaded individual occurred Wednesday night. 

According to the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the 500 block of Washington Street in Cannelton around 7:49 PM in response to a barricaded suspect, identified as James Wilson. Wilson, who had locked himself in an upstairs apartment, allegedly attempted to start a fire before jumping from the window, resulting in his arrest and a deputy’s injury from broken glass. 

Assisting the sheriff’s office were Tell City Police, Indiana State Police, Cannelton Police, the local fire department, and EMS. Both Wilson and the injured deputy were treated at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
