Chicago Resident Killed in Indiana I-65 Crash Monday

Jasper County, IN – A fatal crash on I-65 led to the death of a passenger early Monday morning.

According to the Indiana State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. near the 216 mile-marker, just north of the Rensselaer exit. Preliminary investigation by Trooper Jordin Rosillo revealed that a black 2012 Jeep, traveling northbound, left the roadway and overturned, ejecting all occupants.

First responders treated the injured at the scene, and three occupants were transported to area hospitals with severe injuries. The deceased has been identified as Jeanette Nyiramariza, 54, of Chicago, IL. The family has been notified.

The Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the incident. Authorities remind drivers and passengers to always wear seatbelts for safety.
