Lockport, IL – Firefighters from the Homer Township Fire Protection District swooped in to save the day Sunday as a ferocious blaze engulfed a residence on Fieldview Ct. in Lockport.

According to reports the fire began just before 2 p.m. in the 15200 Block of Fieldview Ct.  Upon arrival, rescue crews were met with a two-story home engulfed in fire. Firefighters managed to rescue a beloved family dog from the midst of the chaos. The K9 is reportedly doing well in the aftermath of the blaze.  The owners of the home were not there at the time of the fire.

After an intense 25-minute battle, firefighters successfully wrestled the flames under control, but the home bore the scars of the encounter. The extent of the fire’s fury, coupled with the damaging effects of smoke and heat, rendered the dwelling uninhabitable.

Firefighters from multiple neighboring districts, including Northwest Homer, Lockport, Mokena, Romeoville, Orland, Lemont, and New Lenox. Meanwhile, crews from Palos, Palos Heights, Argonne, and Plainfield stood ready to cover the Homer stations.
