Evansville, IN – Vanderburgh County witnessed a significant police operation on Wednesday afternoon, leading to the arrest of an Alabama man and a juvenile following the recovery of a stolen vehicle.
According to the Indiana State Police, the incident unfolded on March 6 around 12:10 p.m., when Master Trooper Michael Finney, patrolling the Lloyd Expressway, was alerted about a red 2020 Hyundai Elantra with Tennessee plates, reported stolen from Nashville on March 4, 2024. The vehicle was located in a Walmart parking lot on the Lloyd Expressway at Burkhardt Road.
The suspects, identified as Gabriel Thomas, 22, from Montgomery, AL, and a 17-year-old female from Owensboro, KY, attempted to evade arrest. The female was apprehended without incident, while Thomas was captured shortly after by the Evansville Police near Virginia Street and Kimber Lane.
Thomas faces charges including resisting law enforcement and receiving stolen property, while the juvenile is charged with receiving stolen property and had an existing arrest warrant in Vanderburgh County.
