Firefighters Battle Blaze on Kankakee’s East Side: No Injuries Reported

Kankakee, IL – City Firefighters battled a blaze on the east side of the city overnight.

According to Kankakee Firefighters Local 653, crews were busy responding to multiple EMS calls before they received an emergency call regarding the structure fire in the 500 block of South Gordon.

Thanks to the fast response time of the firefighters and the assistance of neighboring departments, including Bradley Fire Department, Bourbonnais Fire Department, Limestone Fire Department, and Riverside EMS, the fire was successfully contained.

Despite the quick response, the fire left the home heavily damaged. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
