Former Herscher Baseball Standout drafted by New York Mets

HERSCHER – Former Herscher High School graduate Tyler Stuart is warming up his arms for the big leagues today.

The 2018 graduate was selected in the sixth round of the MLB Draft with the 179th pick overall Tuesday.  Stuart, 22, had an ERA of 3.38 while working as a reliever, striking out 38 batters in 40 innings.

Stuart had Tommy John surgery in 2020 before returning to his University of Southern Mississippi team this spring.
