Home Oxygen Tank Explodes in Will County

COAL CITY, IL – The Coal City Fire Protection District (FPD) rushed to the scene of an explosion and possible fire at Burt Estates in Diamond late Wednesday morning. 

According to reports, a home oxygen tank at 30 Arlington Dr. had exploded, leaving one patient with severe burns. They were transported to Morris Hospital for treatment. The event causing around $5,000 in damages in the home.

At approximately 11:45 a.m., the Braidwood Ambulance was dispatched to the location. Although the command reported no active fire, there were smoke conditions and clear evidence of an explosion.

Details about the patient and the extent of their injuries have not been released at this time. The Coal City FPD is currently investigating the incident and working to determine the cause of the explosion.
