Addison, IL – The Addison Police Department issued a scam alert, warning residents about a fraudulent text message targeting Illinois Medicaid and SNAP customers.

According to the police, the scam falsely claims affiliation with the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) and Illinois Healthcare and Family Services (HFS). The deceptive message prompts recipients to update their personal information.

The police clarified that while IDHS does send informational texts, they never request personal details via text. They advise the public to rely solely on the contact number provided on the back of their benefit cards for any account inquiries.
