BOURBONNAIS – Illinois has reported 96 counties are now reporting at warning levels throughout the state. The news comes as hospital ICU availability in Region 7 has fallen into two different warning levels for Region 7, which is now at a record 18.6%.
The data includes all hospitals within the Region, including Will and Kankakee County. It’s now been nearly a month since October 15th, when Region 7 crossed over a statewide positivity warning benchmark of 8.0%.
Since then numbers have continued to climb.
Friday, the three-day rolling average for med surge bed availability in the region was at 12%, 8% below a 20% threshold for warning local authorities. ICU bed availability has fallen to 16%, 4% below the 20% threshold for warnings.
Tuesday, officials in Region 7 issued 5,543 tests to residents inside of Will and Kankakee counties, resulting in 1,028 positive tests (18.5% daily positivity). The rolling seven-day positivity rate continues to be higher in Kankakee than it’s neighbor. Friday, Kankakee ranked in at 18.8%. That rate has decreased by .4% since Thursday. Will County’s positivity rate entering the weekend is 18.5%.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced Friday a record of 15,415 new and probable cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 27 additional deaths. Thursday, Gov. J.B. Pritzker took notice of the increasing rates statewide, saying “If things don’t’ take a turn in the coming days, we will quickly reach the point when some form of a mandatory stay-at-home order is all that will be left.”
The rolling seven-day positivity now in Illinois is 13.2%, a state record.
Friday, ninety-six counties, plus the city of Chicago, are currently reported at a warning level in the state. Those include:
