Bloomington, Indiana – Indiana University has terminated the contract of Head Football Coach Tom Allen, following a series of underwhelming seasons.
Since achieving bowl appearances in 2019 and 2020, the Hoosiers have struggled, posting a 9-27 record over the last three seasons, with a particularly challenging 3-23 record in Big Ten games. Allen, who took over in 2016, ends his tenure with an overall record of 33-49, including three bowl game losses.
Despite these challenges, Allen’s highlight with Indiana was the 2020 season, where he was named Big Ten Coach of the Year and the AFCA Coach of the Year, leading the team to a 6-2 record. This termination follows a $20 million contract signed by Allen in 2019. The decision comes after Indiana’s recent 35-31 loss to Purdue.
