Indianapolis, IN – In preparation for the 50th anniversary of the 1974 Tornado Super Outbreak, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security is urging residents to share their stories and photographs of the devastating event.
According to their social media post, this initiative seeks to build an interactive online story map to honor the historic event’s impact on the state. Hoosiers are invited to contribute their personal narratives and images to the state’s remembrance project. The department emphasizes the importance of preserving these memories as part of Indiana’s collective history.
The Super Outbreak of April 3-4, 1974, remains one of the most significant weather events in the state, with numerous tornadoes causing extensive damage and loss of life.
