Weaverville, California – Freezing temperatures are set to return overnight across interior northern California, putting crops and sensitive plants at risk through early Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, a Freeze Warning takes effect at midnight and continues until 9 a.m. Friday for inland مناطق including Trinity, Lake, Humboldt, Mendocino, and Del Norte counties. Temperatures are expected to fall as low as 26 degrees, cold enough to damage or kill early-season vegetation.

Communities such as Weaverville, Willow Creek, Covelo, and Willits are all within the warning area, where clear skies and light winds will allow temperatures to drop quickly overnight. Rural valleys and low-lying مناطق are most vulnerable to the coldest readings.

The short window of freezing temperatures can still cause significant impacts, especially for agriculture and unprotected plumbing systems. Residents are urged to cover plants, bring sensitive vegetation indoors, and insulate exposed pipes before temperatures fall.

Conditions are expected to improve after sunrise Friday, but additional cold mornings remain possible. Officials warn that more freeze alerts could follow if the pattern continues into the weekend.
