KANKAKEE – State Senator Patrick Joyce, together with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, has heralded a new wave of Back to Business grants that are set to rejuvenate restaurants across the 40th District.

The dining industry bore the brunt of the pandemic, leaving many establishments struggling to regain their footing. Joyce (D-Essex) commented, “Our restaurants endured a tough period during the pandemic, and for some, the road to recovery has been arduous. This grant program is a beacon of hope, extending a helping hand to local eateries that have weathered the storm over the past few years.”

At its core, the Back to Business initiative dispenses recovery grants tailored for small businesses statewide, with a focus on those that were hardest hit. The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) has disbursed over $535 million to over 15,000 businesses through programs like Back to Business and Business Interruption Grants since the pandemic’s onset.

In this latest phase, five restaurants within Joyce’s district will reap the benefits, sharing a substantial sum of $205,000 through the Back to Business grants.

The recipients of this round of grants include:

  • TI DONLINS
  • Bourbonnais, Illinois
  • $45,000
  • BROTHER GEORGE’S BBO… INC
  • Kankakee
  • $40,000
  • I& LTAP LIMITED
  • Route 50 North Bar
  • $20,000
  • STEAM HOLLOW BREWING CO INC
  • Manteno, Illinois
  • $50,000
  • BENTZ OF MOMENCE, INC
  • Subway
  • $50,000
