Kankakee Bus went airborne in crash Wednesday, injuring four including multiple students

KANKAKEE – Two students are recovering today after a crash Wednesday sent them to the hospital.

According to Kankakee City Police it happened at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of West Hawkins Street and South Fourth Avenue when a Toyota Prius reportedly failed to a yield sign and proceeded to rear end the school bus, causing it to go airborne.

The Driver of the Prius, an Adult onboard the school bus, and two of the eight children aboard at the time of the crash were transported to Ascension St. Mary Hospital after the accident to be treated for their injuries.  

No report if any of those injured are life threatening.

The Driver, who suffered injuries to her head, back and neck in the crash, was issued a ticker by City Police following the accident for allegedly disregarding a yield sign.
