This year, Kankakee County, Illinois, finds itself grappling with an alarming statistic – a record-breaking surge in suicides.
According to Kankakee County Coroner’s Office, in 2022, Kankakee County witnessed a staggering 22 suicides, marking the highest number ever recorded within a single year. Tragically, 2023 is not offering much respite, as the county has already mourned the loss of 15 lives to suicide.
