Cedar Lake, IN – A neighborhood was rocked by an unexpected turn of events when a DoorDash delivery spiraled into an alleged armed robbery late Saturday night.

According to the Cedar Lake Police Department, confusion over a food order delivery to the 13300 block of Edison St. resulted in an aggressive confrontation. Reports indicate that two men later identified as Noah Villarreal, an 18-year-old delivery driver, and 20-year-old Jaylaun Williams reportedly returned to the scene after the homeowners realized they received the wrong order. An altercation reportedly ensued on the front porch, escalating rapidly when Williams allegedly drew a .38 caliber handgun, threatening the homeowners and inciting panic.

The tense standoff moved indoors, with Williams reportedly continuing to threaten and verbally abuse the residents. As the suspects fled, police utilized home security footage and drone technology to swiftly locate their vehicle in a dark driveway using heat detection.

Both suspects were arrested, and all related evidence, including the firearm, was recovered. Cedar Lake Police commended their officers for their rapid response and collaboration with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
