Lake County, MI – A 16-year-old dirtbike rider was killed in Pleasant Plains Township on Friday after striking a guide wire anchored to a power pole.

According to Lake County Sheriff Rich Martin, deputies responded to the scene near 76th Street and USFS 6250 at approximately 5:48 p.m. The unconscious teen was found by bystanders who had initiated CPR before first responders arrived. He was transported to Corewell Health – Reed City, where he was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the guide wire impact stripped off the victim’s helmet, causing fatal injuries.
