KANKAKEE, Ill. – The Kankakee County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will be offering four informational CPR classes at the Kankakee Public Library in collaboration with the library.

The classes will be held on April 11, April 25, May 9, and May 23 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and will be led by certified CPR instructors Jeanette Jones and Deb Caise. The classes are designed to provide individuals with some extra practice and preparation for when moments matter, but they will not provide CPR certification.

Registration is encouraged, but not required. The Kankakee Public Library can be contacted for any questions about the classes at 815-939-4564.

According to the American Heart Association, cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in the United States, with approximately 475,000 people experiencing cardiac arrest each year. CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, is a life-saving technique that can be administered to individuals experiencing cardiac arrest or other medical emergencies.

The NAACP’s partnership with the Kankakee Public Library aims to equip community members with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond in emergency situations.

Attendees of the classes can expect to receive experience and practice in CPR techniques, making them better prepared to act quickly in a medical emergency.
