Kankakee Man Arrested for Allegedly Waving Fake Gun at Football Players

KANKAKEE, Ill. – City Police arrested a 37-year-old man Monday for allegedly waving a fake gun at two boys playing football in the 500 block of South Rosewood Avenue. 

According to Kankakee City Police reports, Gus Robinson Jr. took a gun out of his backpack Monday evening and threatened the two boys after a football accidentally went in his direction. The boys uncle approached Robinson to discuss the incident, but Robinson allegedly pointed the gun at him before going inside a nearby house in the 600 block of South Rosewood.

The status of the authenticity of the gun is unknown.

When the police arrived, Robinson claimed that the gun was fake. However, officers still charged him with aggravated assault. Robinson was charged with aggravated assault and is currently being held at the Jerome Combs Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
