FAIRBURY, Ill. – The Prairie Central Community Unit School District Number 8 is in mourning after two of its students lost their lives in a ski-related accident on Sunday. The tragedy has rocked the school and surrounding community, prompting an outpouring of support and grief.

Superintendent Paula Crane released a statement expressing the school’s deep sadness over the incident and its commitment to helping students and staff through the grieving and healing process. “This loss will affect everyone in our school family and in our communities,” she said.

To assist in the healing process, the Baptist Church in Fairbury is offering counseling, prayer, and a gathering place for students. The district has encouraged parents to talk with their children about the loss and seek additional support if necessary.

At this time, the names of the students have not been released out of respect for the families’ privacy as they cope with this heartbreaking tragedy.
