Small Plane Crashes Nose-First in Cornfield near DeKalb Airport

DEKALB, IL – A devastating incident unfolded today on the east side of DeKalb County as a small plane came down nose-first in a cornfield near the intersection of W Lincoln Highway and Route 38. 

The crash has prompted a swift response, leading to the activation of a Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) Box, with multiple towns providing mutual aid for the emergency at hand.

According to authorities, there was one confirmed victim in the wreckage, and reports indicate that the small plane tragically crashed less than five minutes away from the Dekalb Taylor Municipal Airport, in an area between I-88 and Route 38.

Emergency responders and first responders are currently on-site, working tirelessly to provide aid and support in the aftermath of the wreck.
