CHICAGO, IL – Tillamook County Creamery Association, a farmer-owned dairy cooperative, announced plans to establish its first Midwest ice cream factory in Decatur, Illinois.
The company, which was founded in 1909 in Tillamook, Oregon, has grown to become a renowned producer of premium dairy products, particularly cheese and ice cream.
To upgrade the old Prairie Farms facility on North Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Tillamook officials have set aside $50 million, which is expected to create 45 new jobs. The new plant will allow the company to better serve the Eastern United States, where its ice cream sales grew almost 60% in 2022, reaching 1.5 million households.
Tillamook’s history and strong commitment to quality have made it a household name in the dairy industry. The cooperative’s farmer-owners are dedicated to producing milk with the highest quality and standards, which is then turned into delicious cheese and ice cream. The company’s expansion into the Midwest is a testament to its growth and success.
The new factory, set to open in 2024, will provide Tillamook with a strategic location to meet the increasing demand for its products, particularly its ice cream flavors. Tillamook’s excellent company culture and increasing demand for its products make this move an exciting prospect for the company, the local community, and consumers across the Midwest.
