KANKAKEE – A Kankakee man is awaiting a bond hearing after being arrested on alleged Burglary charges Friday.

According to Kankakee County Sheriff’s Police, it happened Friday morning in Bonfield at a home on W Route 17.  Police say a woman returning to her home saw a man in her detached garage. The man reportedly took off running through a nearby field after the encounter as she walked towards her home.

Police later saw 35-year-old Billy T Roof III of Kankakee walking near 9000 W and Route 17.  Deputies arrested Roof III on attempted burglary charges after the woman positively ID’d the man.  Roof was also charged with possession of stolen vehicle parts and criminal damage to the property.

Roof III is currently awaiting a bond hearing and being held at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.
