Man Arrested for Felony Offenses During New Lenox Traffic Stop

NEW LENOX, Ill. – A 33-year-old man has been arrested by the New Lenox Police Department (NLPD) for multiple felony offenses, including unlawful possession of a firearm.

According to NLPD, the arrest was made on March 14th at approximately 2:30 PM during a routine traffic stop at Route 30 & Nelson Road. The driver was pulled over for minor traffic violations when officers discovered he was in possession of an illegal firearm and prescription drugs without a valid prescription.

The suspect, who’s name has yet to be released by authorities, is not a New Lenox resident, was subsequently charged with Unlawful Possession of Weapon by Felon, Possession of Controlled Substance, Armed Violence, and two traffic violations.

“This traffic stop was conducted on our busiest thoroughfare, Rt 30, and this arrestee is not a New Lenox resident. No crime had been committed prior to this traffic stop, however the proactive policing efforts of the NLPD officers will continue as we consistently strive to keep our community safe,” said the NLPD in a statement.
