Manhattan, IL – A resident, David L. Newtoff, 31, has been sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to child pornography charges. Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announced the sentence, which is the result of Newtoff’s agreement to plead guilty to a Class X felony.

According to Assistant State’s Attorney Matt Rodgers, the investigation revealed that Newtoff disseminated a child pornography video prior to November 2022. Following his prison term, Newtoff is mandated to register as a sexual offender for life under the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act. The court, presided over by Judge David Kliment, has granted Newtoff day-for-day sentencing eligibility, with credit for two days already served in the Kane County jail.

This case was investigated by the Kane County Child Exploitation Unit, a joint effort of the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office and Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and the Internet Crimes Against Children’s Task Force.
