Mokena, IL – The Mokena Police Department has issued a lighthearted advisory regarding the recent appearances of wild turkey flocks throughout the community, particularly noting their presence near the park district office, Grasmere subdivision, and older areas of the Lincoln-Way community.

In a statement that both acknowledges the curiosity and promotes coexistence, officials urged residents to welcome the feathered visitors without alarm

According to the advisory, while the sight of turkeys roaming the streets might be unusual, there is no need for emergency services intervention unless a bird is in distress. The notice also served as a reminder of local regulations against hunting and the discharge of firearms within village boundaries. In a communal spirit, the police invited residents to share photographs of their encounters with these wild turkeys, emphasizing the importance of living harmoniously with local wildlife.
