Naperville, IL – Wrong Way Route 59 Chase Leads to Detainment of Chicago Man

Naperville, IL – In a joint statement from the Naperville Police Department and the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, Judge Joshua Dieden has ordered pre-trial detention for Chicago resident Dreshaune Manuel, 22, following a high-speed chase that involved him allegedly driving the wrong way on Route 59. 

Manuel is charged with Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer, a Class 4 Felony, among other misdemeanors. The incident, which occurred on February 7, 2024, began when Manuel allegedly sped at 104 mph in a 45-mph zone and escalated as he drove into oncoming traffic, narrowly avoiding collisions with several vehicles. State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Police Chief Jason Arres highlighted the dangers of fleeing police and the importance of maintaining public safety. 

Manuel is also linked to a similar incident in April 2023. Manuel’s next court date is March 4, 2024.
