Grand Forks, ND – A heat advisory has been issued for the Devils Lake Basin as temperatures are expected to peak near 100 degrees today. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns of smoky conditions contributing to hazy skies across the region.

According to the NWS Grand Forks office, the heat index for eastern North Dakota will range from 90 to 100 degrees, with highs in other areas reaching between 80 and 90 degrees. Smoke from distant wildfires will keep skies hazy, reducing visibility and potentially impacting air quality.

The forecast for Grand Forks includes a high of 88 degrees today, followed by 93 degrees on Friday. Over the weekend, temperatures are predicted to moderate slightly, with highs of 86 degrees on Saturday and 85 degrees on Sunday. Clear skies are expected to dominate the weather pattern through early next week, with temperatures in the mid-80s.
