Ottawa, IL – In the early hours of Tuesday, March 5th, 2024, a distressing accident occurred on the 2700 Block of Columbus Street in Ottawa, IL, involving a semi tractor trailer and a bicyclist.
According to the Ottawa Police Department, the emergency was reported to the Ottawa Central Dispatch at around 12:24 AM, prompting immediate responses from both the Ottawa Police and Fire Departments.
Upon arrival, responders found a female bicyclist who had sustained serious injuries in the collision. She was initially rushed to OSF St Elizabeth’s Hospital in Ottawa for urgent care. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later transferred to OSF St Francis Hospital in Peoria for further treatment.
The semi tractor trailer’s driver has been cooperating with authorities as the Ottawa Police Department’s Accident Reconstructionist continues to investigate the incident.
