Portage, IN – An accident Sunday involving a U-Haul truck led to structural damage at the Portage Branch of the Porter County Public Library.

The library’s announcement detailed that the mishap occurred when the truck, lacking adequate clearance, collided with the front canopy of the building. Portage Police and Fire Departments were quick to respond, and they confirmed no injuries from the event.

The entrance on Irving Street is now closed off, with patrons being redirected to use the alternate entrance on Lois Street. The library has apologized for the disruption and is urging patrons to follow their social media for updates and developments regarding the entrance’s reopening.
