Newton County, IN – The Indiana Department of Transportation’s Northwest division has announced a significant road closure impacting drivers in Newton County. State Road 114 will be closed for resurfacing between County Road 200 E and State Road 55, starting on or after Wednesday, March 28, and is expected to continue through mid-June. The closure includes the intersection of State Road 55 and State Road 114 for the entirety of the project.

According to the announcement, while local access will be maintained, drivers are advised to seek alternative routes for through traffic. The designated detour will utilize I-65, State Road 14, and U.S. 41. Additionally, an official detour for the State Road 55 intersection closure will reroute traffic to State Road 16.

This resurfacing effort is part of an ongoing project that began last year, focusing on improving State Road 114’s stretch between U.S. 41 and C.R. 200 E. Motorists are encouraged to plan their routes accordingly to accommodate the expected disruptions and follow the official detour signs.
