Severe Storm Warning for Northern Illinois: 1-Inch Hail and 60 MPH Winds Threaten Will, Kankakee Counties

Chicago, IL – The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a severe weather alert for parts of northern Illinois, including Will and Kankakee counties, effective until 6 PM today, May 2. 

The warning highlights threats from widely scattered thunderstorms moving northeast at approximately 30 mph. Key concerns are damaging winds up to 60 mph and hail up to one inch in diameter, particularly in the yellow-shaded areas on the map. 

Residents are advised to stay informed through multiple channels and seek shelter indoors at the sound of thunder to avoid the risks associated with this potentially severe weather.
