Shooting Outside Illinois Elementary School: Multiple People Arrested

PARIS, Ill. — A shooting incident outside an elementary school in Paris led to the swift arrest of three individuals Tuesday. 

According to the Paris Police Department responded, officers promptly to the 911 call reporting shots fired behind Wenz School at around 11:04 AM Tuesday morning.  Local schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution following the call.

Authorities secured the scene without delay with assistance of Illinois State Police Troop 7 and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police. Lockdown on area schools were lifted before noon.

Following an investigation, three suspects were arrested. Tyge A. Hissem, 30, was charged with Reckless Discharge of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon. Alex M. Noble, 21, was arrested for Aggravated Battery, and Megan C. Erwin, 28, was taken into custody due to an outstanding Champaign County Illinois warrant.

An investigation into the incident remains ongoing however authorities stress this was an isolated incident.
