Lincoln, IL – Severe weather continues to sweep through central Illinois today, with tornado watches and alerts for damaging storms across the region. A tornado watch remains in effect until 8 AM for western central Illinois, including potential hazards such as hail larger than a quarter and isolated tornado risks.

According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, IL, a line of thunderstorms moving eastward at approximately 40 mph is forecasted to bring frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, heavy downpours, and gusty winds.

The severe weather threat is set to persist into Wednesday, particularly in southern Illinois, where conditions may worsen with possible tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds.

Residents are advised to stay weather aware, seek shelter when storms approach, and avoid flooded roadways. As the week progresses, the weather pattern is expected to turn cooler with scattered showers, providing some respite from the severe conditions.
