Tornado Watch Issued Across Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin; Severe Weather Expected

Chicago, IL – A tornado watch has been issued across parts of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin until 9:00 PM EDT today, May 7, 2024.

According to the US National Weather Service in Chicago, the alert warns of potential tornadoes, with scattered gusts up to 70 MPH and tennis ball-sized hail possible. The tornado watch covers a vast area affecting an estimated population of over 17.78 million people, with 5,500 schools and 323 hospitals within the highlighted regions.

The main threat, particularly damaging hail, is expected along and east of the I-57 corridor between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Residents are urged to monitor the situation and seek shelter if necessary.
