Tragic Manhattan Deaths Shock Illinois Community: Toddler Among Two Killed

MANHATTAN, IL – The community is reeling from a devastating incident that claimed the lives of two individuals, including a four-year-old toddler Friday.

The victims, identified by Will County Coroner Laurie Summers, have been identified as 39-year-old Sarah Durkin, a resident of Manhattan, and the young child whose identity has not been released.

First responders arrived to a distress call on 3rd St., the Manhattan Police discovered the lifeless bodies inside a residence. An immediate investigation was launched to determine the circumstances surrounding this heart-wrenching incident. 

No further details have been given on the incident.  Final cause and manner of death of the pair will be determined following completion of Police, Autopsy and Toxicological reports.
