Washington, D.C. – As part of its annual Mailbox Improvement Week initiative, the United States Postal Service is urging homeowners across the nation to conduct repairs and enhancements to their mailboxes.
Scheduled every third week of May, the campaign emphasizes maintenance to ensure secure and timely mail delivery.
According to a recent USPS news release, recommended improvements include fixing loose hinges, remounting unstable posts, and refreshing old paint jobs. Additionally, homeowners are encouraged to consider upgrading to larger, “next generation” mailboxes, designed to better accommodate the increased size and frequency of online order deliveries, potentially reducing the need for post office visits.
The Postal Service advises consulting local postal authorities before installing or replacing mailboxes to align with specific road and curb conditions. This initiative also aims to remove any nearby obstacles that could hinder the mail delivery process.
