Somers, WI – Authorities reported the discovery of a deceased male in the Pike River near the University of Wisconsin-Parkside campus on Wednesday.

Around 3:00 PM, a walker in a wooded area off 4019 University Drive spotted the body floating in the water, prompting a response from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department. Officials later confirmed the death as an apparent suicide and clarified that contrary to reported social media rumors, the deceased had no missing extremities.

The area was promptly secured with the help of UW-Parkside Police and fire departments from both the Village of Somers and the City of Kenosha.

The Sheriff’s Department reassured the public and campus community that there was no ongoing threat. They extended their condolences and encouraged anyone struggling with mental health issues to reach out to Kenosha County Behavioral Health or call their 24/7 crisis line at (262) 657-7188. No further information is expected to be released.
