California Heartbreak: Urgent Search for Mother After Infant Abandoned in Shopping Cart

Lomita, CA – In a heart-wrenching turn of events, a local community is shaken as an infant girl was discovered abandoned in a shopping cart at a Lomita business. The incident occurred on the bustling 2000 block of Pacific Coast Highway at approximately 5:00 PM on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, sparking an immediate response from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies were informed by store employees that an unidentified pregnant woman had entered with the infant, later requesting a taxi. After making a brief visit to the restroom, the woman departed in the taxi, leaving the child behind in an unattended shopping cart, her destination unknown.

The infant, estimated to be between seven and nine months old, is now safely in the care of the Department of Children and Family Services, but the mystery of her abandonment deepens the community’s concern.
