Public Health Officials Report Four Additional COVID19 Cases in Illinois

CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) are reporting four additional people in Illinois have tested positive at the IDPH laboratory for novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Two of the cases, a woman in her 50s and a woman in her 70s, are both family members to the sixth case, a woman in her 50s who acquired the virus on a cruise ship and is an employee at Jacqueline B. Vaughn Occupational High School.

Chicago — Building on the state’s robust and coordinated response to COVID-19, Governor JB Pritzker issued a disaster proclamation today to unlock additional federal resources and help the state prepare for the potential of further spread. Issuing a disaster proclamation is the method of declaring a state of emergency in the state of Illinois, which 13 states across the United States have entered into.

“We are looking for cars, SUVs, trucks or vans,” said NLFPD Training Officer, Lieutenant Brian Applegate. “The donated vehicles really help us out by allowing us to train and refresh our skills when using our extrication tools, as well as practicing new techniques on vehicle stabilization.”
