COVID-19 kills Kankakee woman, 1st County death

A woman in Kankakee has died from COVID-19.

That news shared today by the Kankakee County Health Department as cases this morning at 9 am still stood at  57 in the County with 6,980 announced Statewide yesterday and 141 deaths.

The woman did have underlying health conditions.  No word to what or how serious those conditions originally were. “We offer our deepest condolences to the family, individuals, and community members affected by this loss.” Kankakee County Health Department said in a statement earlier today.

On Thursday, Cook County Medical Examiner’s office announced it is looking for a refrigerated warehouse with the capacity to hold up to 1,000 bodies.  Deaths across the U.S. were near 5,000 early Thursday morning, with nearly a million cases worldwide.
