NAPERVILLE, IL – In the early hours of Sunday morning, Naperville Police Department officers located a stolen vehicle from St. Charles on the northwest side of town. The vehicle turned onto a dead-end street in a residential area, and the driver and passenger fled on foot upon realizing they were being followed.

While the driver remains at large, the passenger, a 14-year-old from Aurora, was apprehended by officers. The young suspect has been charged with alleged possession of a stolen motor vehicle and now faces felony weapons charges for allegedly possessing a defaced, loaded firearm.

“Our investigation into the driver continues, but you can rest assured that we don’t give up on our cases and will use all the tools at our disposal to solve crimes!” stated the Naperville Police Department in a post to social media Thursday afternoon.

The case remains under investigation.
