JASPER COUNTY, IN — A heated family altercation turned into a dramatic high-speed chase in rural Jasper County last week. On July 30th, Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence where a family dispute had escalated with one individual reportedly, allegedly, wielding a “hatchet”.
The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Jadon B. Gratner from Rensselaer, Indiana, fled into a nearby bean field after stealing a neighbor’s golf cart to make a daring escape. Deputies gave chase, leading to minor damage to squad cars and a farmer’s corn crop.
After a thrilling pursuit, Gratner was apprehended and now faces multiple felony charges, including Intimidation, Auto Theft, and Resisting Law Enforcement, as well as misdemeanor charges of Criminal Mischief.
While Gratner’s arrest stands as an accusation, it reminds us that justice will be served as the legal process unfolds.
