BOLINGBROOK, IL – A 15-year-old male suspect has been arrested in connection with the alleged shooting of a 17-year-old teenager in Bolingbrook.
The incident occurred Friday on the 200 block of Gettysburg Drive, sending shockwaves through the community. At 5:25 pm, Bolingbrook Police successfully located and apprehended teen near the intersection of Lily Cache Lane and Plainview Drive.
Following consultations with the Will County State’s Attorney Office, the suspect has been charged with aggravated battery with a firearm. He has since been transported to the River Valley Juvenile Detention Center.
According to Bolingbrook Police, the shooting incident, initially described as an active incident, had prompted a shelter-in-place order for the safety of residents. However, in an update, the authorities have lifted the shelter-in-place order after recovering a handgun and clearing the perimeter of the area. The investigation has revealed that the shooting was a result of a prearranged narcotics deal between individuals who were already known to each other.
The victim, a 17-year-old female, was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment. Her condition has been reported as stable at this time.
