BRAIDWOOD – An altercation soaked in blood unfolded in Braidwood Saturday resulting in the arrest of two men.
According to Braidwood authorities the clash, allegedly triggered by threats at a home in the 500 block of North Center St. saw Jake Madding’s face covered in crimson red after an alleged attack with a 2×6 piece of lumber.
Reportedly responding to earlier threats, Madding allegedly obtained an illegal handgun from a Grundy County residence, further escalating the situation. A gunshot accidentally rang out at Madding’s home while he attempted to unload the firearm, moments before Kaleb Findlay’s arrival. Authorities later discovered the gun was reported stolen. Despite his injuries, Madding declined medical assistance and was promptly taken into custody.
Madding faces charges including Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Firearm without a FOID card, and Possession of Firearm Ammunition without a FOID card. Madding’s bail is set at $7,500, with a 10% deposit required.
Findlay was also apprehended and detained at the Will County Adult Detention Facility, facing charges of Aggravated Battery (Class 3 Felony) and Battery (Class A Misdemeanor), allegedly stemming from the same altercation. Findlay’s bail is set at $15,000, with a 10% payment required.
